Check that you are specifying the correct homeserver (under advanced settings from the login screen on the iOS mobile app) and use https://matrix.rescue1.org. You are probably receiving this error because you are attempting to use the default matrix.org, on which you do not have an account registered.

Additionally, ensure you use only your first initial and last name only as your username (e.g. John Doe would be jdoe). While your full email address can be used as a username in most cases, it requires an additional configuration option.
